Hello Steel City bowlers!
Summer is still in full swing, but it is not too early to start making plans for this fall, and coming this September is Pittsburgh's Gay bowling tournament, Treat. Treat is held every other year and attracts bowlers from across the country to Pittsburgh for a weekend of bowling, fellowship and fun. This years event promises to be extra special as Treat has made three huge changes this year. They are:
1. A new bowling house for the main event. Treat will be hosing it's main bowling event at the brand new 'Legacy Lanes' located in the Baldwin/Whitehall neighborhood of Pittsburgh. This beautiful 31 lane house has 24 lanes in the main bowling area, with an additional 7 boutique lanes in the upscale lounge area, complete with a full bar, bloody mary buffet on Sunday and a wall of flat screen TVs with recliners to enjoy your favorite sports. The on site grill serves homemade foods that are made to order. Legacy Lanes promises to show Treat bowlers an amazing weekend!
2. A new host hotel, the Pittsburgh Renaissance, will serve as home base for our out of town guests and our local bowlers. The 14th floor hospitality suite with it's outdoor patio will be a great place to relax, socialize and have a drink (and smokers can walk out on the patio to have a smoke, instead of going down to the first floor and outside) when you are not bowling. The awards banquet will be in the grand ballroom with it's wall of glass overlooking the river and PNC Park.
3. For the first time Treat will be hosting a scratch masters event to be bowled at our home lanes, AMF Noble Manor Lane. Scratch Masters is an optional event where bowlers in the same handicap divisions use their tournament scores to qualify to compete head to head against the other qualifiers in their division. It is an exciting addition to this years Treat Tournament.
If you would like to help make this week end a huge success and show bowlers from across this country and Canada what a great city Pittsburgh is, we are looking for your help! Treat needs a small army of volunteers to make the event a success, from working the hospitality room, to helping bowlers register to working at the lanes to answer questions and verify scores. It is very easy to bowl and Treat and volunteer to help, so don;t feel like you can only do one or there other!
For More information, to register or to help volunteer, check out our website: treatpgh.org or email me and I will be happy to answer any question I can.
